Member Benefits

• Option to be listed on Member Directory page of Web Indexing SIG web site. Members may designate which information to include.

• Participation in the Contract Web Indexer Search database on the web site at no extra charge. After joining the SIG you will receive your password by email and you can then complete the Contract Web Indexer Directory Form .

• Use of the Web Indexing SIG marketing brochure, provided in either the MS Publisher or MS Word formats for reproduction, to which you may add your own contact information.

• Use of the Web Indexing SIG PowerPoint presentation, which you may also modify to promote yourself.

• Participation in the annual Web Indexing Award.

• Limited benefits of association with our partner organization, the Information Architecture Institute, including participation in the IAI member discussion list and discounts to its events.

• Use of the Web Indexing SIG affiliation on your resume or web site.

• Opportunites for SIG leadership and networking.

Membership Eligibility

Membership in the Web Indexing SIG (Special Interest Group) is open to all current members of the American Society for Indexing (ASI) or affiliate indexing societies:

• Indexing Society of Canada
• Society of Indexers (United Kingdom and Ireland)
• Australian and New Zealand Society of Indexers
• German Network of Indexers (Deutsches Netzwerk der Indexer)
• Netherlands Indexing Network (Nederlands Indexers Netwerk)
• Association of Southern African Indexers and Bibliographers
• China Society of Indexers

Upon registration, your membership in one of these societies is subject to verification. Please join one of these indexing societies, if you are not a member already, prior to joining the SIG.

Prior indexing expertise is not required, as membership in the SIG is considered an opportunity to expand one's knowledge of web indexing.

Member Registration

SIG membership dues are just US$5.00. Dues are for the calendar year January - December. If you are a new member joining in the final quarter (October - December), your SIG dues will be applied toward SIG membership for following calendar year in addition to the remaining period of the current year.

To pay SIG dues, you can either:

1. Pay SIG dues along with your ASI dues
   Current and new ASI members may pay the dues annually (around the start of each calendar year) along with their ASI membership dues and use the ASI membership/renewal application, whether the paper form or the online application. The application has a line item for the Web Indexing SIG membership dues.
   
   
2. Pay SIG dues separately
   Those joining the SIG separately (either later in the year than when they completed their ASI membership/renewal application, or as a member of another indexing society affiliated with ASI) should pay dues directly to ASI by one of the following methods:

1. Online credit card payments through the ASI Online Store. From the drop-down menu for Type, select Special Interest Groups (SIGs). You will then see the Web Indexing SIG listed as one of the SIGs that accept online payment.
   
2. Credit card payments to the Resource Center office of ASI by phone: 303-463-2887 or by fax: 303-422-8894.
   
3. Mailed check (in U.S. dollars) made out to the "American Society for Indexing" sent (with a note explaining that the payment is for the dues of the Web Indexing SIG) to:
   American Society for Indexing, 10200 West 44th Avenue, Wheat Ridge, CO80033-2840. For follow-up, you may contact ASI at info@asindexing.org.

Your membership in ASI or one of the above affiliated indexing societies will be verified. Your SIG membership will not be activated until your indexing society membership is confirmed, and SIG dues payments cannot be refunded for those who are ineligible to join the SIG.

After submitting your dues, please fill out the online membership form This information is for both our SIG records and for the online membership directory.

Member Information Update

Current members may update their member contact information which displays on the Member Directory page at any time. Use your e-mail address and password to log into the Modify Membership Form. This is the same form as the initial application, but please update your existing record, rather than filling out a complete new form. You may change any information except your e-mail address this way. If you need to change your e-mail address (which is the identifying field in the member database), you must contact , the database administrator.

If you have forgotten your password, you may request that a new one be automatically sent to you by contacting .

At any time you may also choose to add or update your listing in the Contract Indexer Search database. Using your password you may complete the Contract Indexer Directory Form.
